Mmmm… coffee…

March 5, 2007 by Kerryn

I have Edwinek to thank for this coffee meme.

Your first cup, when do you drink it?

As soon as possible after waking up. We have a programmable coffee maker and if I remember to set it the previous night, the coffee will be ready for me to simply pour myself a mug and go. Otherwise, I’ll set the brew going before I do anything else.

How many cups a day do you drink?

At a cafe I was once a regular at, while I was working, the waitress kindly informed me that I was drinking the equivalent of six shots of espresso on a daily basis. That amount hasn’t really changed; it’s just that I don’t have to pay $3.50 for a mug of it now.

Decaf or real?

It’s not really coffee without the caffeine.

Sugar, milk or cream?

Milk only.

Your favourite way of brewing?

My favourite way of brewing is in a Moka Express-type stove top percolator. However, mine went missing in a move and since then we’ve been dripping, with the occasional French Press.

With whom do you prefer to enjoy your coffee?

My first cup of the day has to be solitary. Any other coffee of the day I prefer to share with D, if he’s around (which he will be for the next three weeks. I’m either going to go insane or come to a new appreciation of him…)

Your favourite brand?

An Australian brand, Vittoria, which came about when Italian immigrants became frustrated about the lack of a quality coffee in Australia and started roasting their own in the 1950s.

Where do you prefer to drink your coffee?

The first cup is enjoyed on my balcony, listening to the sounds of the suburb waking up. The next is at the computer.

morning coffeeWhat does your favourite cup look like?

That’s it. In the photo. It’s twice of a normal mug and only needs to be refilled once for me to get my full daily quota of coffee.

Espresso, Cappuccino or Latte Macchiato?

Of those three, my choice is Latte Macchiato. My preferred choice is a flat white, which has more espresso than a caffè e latte and less froth than a cappuccino.

Favourite occupation while drinking coffee?

Reading. Or just gazing off into the sunrise.

And now, I have to be off. I have an apartment to tidy, some groceries to buy and some parents to entertain.

You got it. Found out last night that they wanted to stay tonight and it’s been a flurry of cleaning and tidying this morning…

Heaps and heaps of fun ;)

I hope you have a good time!

I can’t drink coffee because I go immediately wired and the effect lasts for a week. Hey, maybe I should turn this into a tea meme?!

Sadly, I recently discovered that I now cannot drink much more than one cup of coffee per day. (Though that’s a mug of coffee, not a standard “cup.”) So it’s one with breakfast and that’s it. Somehow our French press always makes too much and then I’m left gazing fondly at all that left-over coffee going to waste. Sigh.

[...] been terribly cheeky. Kerryn did a coffee meme, which she found on Edwinek’s blog, but since I don’t drink coffee, I decided to change [...]

Helen: I used to drink coffee in the evening and then wonder why I couldn’t sleep (and then, that may have been the reason why I was able to stay awake at night to read). Now, I don’t drink coffee after midday and the only time I have recently I was wired all night.

Henitsirk: Those pesky French presses… I, too, always make way too much when I use mine and end up pouring at least a cup down the sink.
